By Erica Chenoweth and Barbara F. Walter
Political Violence @ a Glance was twice honored at the OAIS Blogging Awards’ ceremonies at the International Studies Association Annual Meeting last week. We narrowly edged out The Monkey Cage to win top honors in the best group blog category, and our own Christian Davenport won the year’s top individual post honor for his PV@Glance post “Researching While Black, Why Conflict Research Needs More African Americans (Maybe)”, beating runner-up Barb Walter’s PV@Glance post “The Four Things We Know About How Civil Wars End (and what this tells us about Syria).”
In accepting our Duckies this year, we want to gratefully thank our amazing contributors, who dutifully submit the outstanding posts that have turned this blog into a valued source of expert analysis on political violence. You are all truly rock stars. And we must acknowledge Taylor Marvin — our dedicated editor — for his truly exceptional work in keeping this blog running.
To our readers: we strive to make this blog part of the solution rather than part of the problem, and we are humbled that so many of you have found this blog useful. We hope you keep coming back and participating in lively conversations with us.
We also extend our congratulations and thanks to the other OAIS winners — Jay Ulfelder, Dan Drezner, and Nuclear Diner — and nominees for their continuing efforts in keeping the blogsphere legit.
And last but definitely not least, thanks to Sage and the folks over at Duck of Minerva for being forward-thinking and sponsoring the Blogger Reception at ISA, which is a total blast. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out. Make sure to put it on your calendar for next year’s ISA.
